The Granger House Museum is the only restored middle-class family home in the area, representing the American Victorian era. The house, built in the 1840s and occupied by a single family for nearly 100 years, showcases an extensive collection that includes many original furnishings. The 1879 brick carriage house, next to the family home, is a virtually untouched treasure and the only one of its design in the Midwest .

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Granger House represents the lifestyle of a middle-class family living in late 19th century Marion. The museum's guided tours, demonstrations, and seasonal activities bring our town's history to life.

In remembering the sesquicentennial of the beginning of the American Civil War, the Granger House will be hosting a "Little Women Christmas" this season. Hours are 1 - 4:00 on Saturdays and Sundays between Thanksgiving and Christmas with the following special programs:

At 1:30 on Saturdays, December 3 and 10, performers from Anamosa's Starlighters Theater will do Christmas related scenes from their current production of "Little Women."

AND

At 1:30 on Sunday, December 4, Ann Struthers, visiting professor of English and author of the 1993 book The Alcotts Arrive, will give a talk on Louisa May Alcott's experiences as a nurse during the Civil War.
